Very rare Hermès “A la Gloire de la Légion Etrangère” silk twill Carré scarf. Signed by Hugo Grygkar and issued in 1951, this scarf pays hommage to a specific corps of the French Army : the French Foreign Legion. The print depicts 16 legionnaires in different uniforms representative of the various military campaigns throughout the Legion history, together with their mottos : “honneur” (honor), “discipline” (rigor), “valeur” (value) & “fidélité” (fidelity). Though reissued in 1963, our scarf is an original 1951. Featuring a vivid red and green border on very light beige background, it remains an “one-of-a-kind” Carré scarf for any serious Hermès collector. Original Hermès box not included.
