Vintage Design
A fabulous set of six antique early 18th century Louis XVI armchairs, masterfully hand carved and entirely gilded with gold leaf. The curved backrest centered by a sculpted pattern of leaves and scrolls, which are repeated on the apron and on the scrolled armrests. The whole rests on fluted feet adorned with grooves and acanthus leaves surmounted by rosettes. Fluted legs were inspired by columns from Greek antiquity, with their popularity peaking during the Neoclassical period in the second part of the 18th century. Later, it emerged in Hepplewhite and Classical Revival furniture leg styles. Wide seat and slightly reclined backrest maximize seating comfort. Overstuffed seat and back, solid and sturdy. The armchairs are upholstered in a super chich Florentine silk fabric with golden metallic stripes on an aquamarine blue background.
