Vintage Design
Made of solid mixed woods it is quite substantial and spacious and could serve a variety of purposes in any home. It lends its self well to use as sideboard, owing to his height, and has the benefit of hidden storage for stowing things away.
The chest is rectangular and is set on wheels which are discreetly hidden behind decorative painted panels. The top houses a thick heavy lift up lid which opens to reveal a wooden candle box to the right and very old handmade strap hinges. The chest has heavy iron locks but the key has been lost somewhere in time.
The chest is finished with decorative metal work, studs, and to either end, a metal handle.
The wood has a waxed finish which has a nice sheen.
CONDITION
This piece is in solid structural condition with many cosmetic marks of age and use.
The chest has been sympathetically restored in our workshop and repairs made to the underside as necessary.
One of the wheels is made of a particularly rustic piece of wood and is not completely round so needs to be turned into place to enable the chest to stand level without rocking.
The lid has various old marks, repairs and cracks that have been filled with wax.
Generally in solid but very characterful and rustic condition.
