Leather DS-23 Wing Chair by Franz Josef Schulte for de Sede, 1980s

This is the first edition of the DS-23 armchair designed by Franz Josef Schulte for the Swiss manufactured De Sede during the 1980s. It is a luxurious leather armchair that is still produced today by professionals from De Sede, Switzerland. Our piece has over thirty years of history. This armchair is covered with black natural leather. The armrests are integrated into the base body as slightly tilted side cushions. The comfortable inner part consists of three loose cushions, a padded seat and backrest, and a wing cushion that can be moved freely along the upper edge of the rounded backrest. The armchair is a great complement to a modernist interior.

De Sede has its origins in a small but skilled saddler’s workshop in Klingnau, Switzerland. The craftsmen there committed themselves to transforming the best possible leather into seating furniture. Their years of experience and diligence enabled them to create hand-crafted leather furniture of singular quality. In 1965, the family-run business became a joint-stock company called de Sede AG, but remained faithful to their original guiding principles. The company developed rapidly from this moment onwards: top designers of international calibre were brought on board to create seating furniture, additional manufacturing facilities were opened, and an international distribution network was established. The armchair is in original vintage condition. The leather has a natural patina, fading and discoloration.
