Vintage Design
Amazing set of six Sapporo dining chairs designed by Mario Marenco for Mobil Girgi in Italy in 1970. Made from Italian walnut with a stunning grain pattern and beautiful patinated cognac saddle leather seats. The seats are original and have aged beautiful, showing a charming, worn-in leather look. A minimalistic design featuring two slim slats which are connected by the hammer shaped backrest and a horizontal slat in the bottom, giving them an open, inviting look. A comfortable design with a wide seat, which allows long dining sessions paired with a beautiful look.
Mario Marenco was born in 1933. He studied architecture in Naples and won research grants for Stockholm and Chicago. In 1960 he opened in Rome his own atelier of architecture and design named Studio DEGW in Rome. During his career as an architect, he taught at the University of Sydney and worked with companies such as B&B, Arflex and Poltrona Frau. Mario Marenco is also known for his appearances on TV but his career as an actor and humorist has never overshadowed his predisposition for design.
