Vintage Design
The table shows sculptural legs which open to an oval shape on piano and brass ball hinges. It stays neatly in situ on metal clips to the underside. The top has beautiful veneered figured book match crown grain.
The top has been sympathetically re-finished by hand. This has been lightly taken back, and stained using a water stain (a water stain will not fade in sunlight) to match the colour of the base, which has the original finish. An Aquacoat sealer has been added, making it more durable to water and heat, and then given a smooth waxed finish. The table still retains a few light authentic marks to highlight its genuine heritage. There are a couple of light indentation marks to note. Please refer to the photographs. The base has some light marks consistent with its age.
The table will comfortably seat six and up to eight.
Danish designer duo Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993) worked together between 1944-1975.
